Complete One-Day Course
Your One-Day Macomb Township CPL Class
Michigan law requires applicants to complete an appropriate pistol safety training course before applying for a Concealed Pistol License. Prime Defense's one-day Michigan CPL class includes five hours of instruction at our Macomb Township classroom and three hours of live-fire range instruction.
Classroom Training

What Students Should Bring

- Transportation to the offsite range
No firearms or ammunition are permitted inside the classroom. If you plan to use your own firearm during the live-fire portion, it must remain unloaded and secured inside your vehicle until you arrive at the range. The range requires students to purchase the ammunition used during class onsite.

Prime Defense's dedicated classroom is located at 51261 Milano Drive in Macomb Township. Local students can complete the classroom portion close to home without traveling across Metro Detroit. The location is also convenient for residents of nearby Shelby Township, Clinton Township, Chesterfield Township and surrounding Macomb County communities.
The live-fire portion takes place at an offsite indoor range near the end of the day. The range is approximately 30 minutes from the classroom, and students must provide their own transportation between locations.

Macomb Township residents apply through the Macomb County Clerk after successfully completing the required training. The Clerk's CPL office is located at 120 North Main Street in downtown Mount Clemens.

Firearms and Live-Fire Training
Do I need to own a firearm?
No. Prime Defense has loaner firearms available at no additional charge.
Can I use my own firearm?
Yes. Your firearm must remain unloaded and secured inside your vehicle during the classroom portion. Firearms and ammunition are not permitted in the classroom.
Is live-fire training included?
Yes. Live-fire range instruction, the range fee and target fee are included. Students must purchase one box of ammunition at the range.
Applications, Policies and Renewals
How old must I be to obtain a Michigan CPL?
Michigan applicants must generally be at least 21 years old to apply for a CPL. Students may complete the training course at age 18, but they cannot apply for the license until they meet Michigan's age requirement.
Will I receive my CPL during class?
No. You will receive a certificate confirming that you successfully completed the required training. You then use that certificate when applying through the county clerk where you reside.

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Class registrations are nonrefundable. One reschedule is permitted when proper notice is provided. Rescheduling requests made within 48 hours of class are subject to a $40 fee. No-call/no-show registrations forfeit the class tuition.
Do I need the full class if I am renewing my CPL?
If you already have a Michigan CPL and are eligible to renew, you may not need the full eight-hour course. Prime Defense offers a live, instructor-led Michigan CPL renewal class through Zoom.
