Michigan CPL Renewal Class
Prime Defense Firearms Training offers a live Michigan CPL renewal class led by an instructor. This three-hour class gives Michigan CPL holders a structured review before renewal.
We conduct the class live through Zoom. As a result, you can attend from home, ask questions and interact with an instructor in real time.
Michigan does not require you to take a renewal class. Instead, renewal applicants certify that they completed at least three hours of review and at least one hour of firing-range time. Both requirements must occur during the six months immediately before applying.
These renewal requirements are outlined in MCL 28.425l, Michigan’s statute governing CPL renewal requirements.
Prime Defense provides the three-hour review portion. You complete the required range time separately.
IMPORTANT RANGE NOTICE
RANGE TIME IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS CLASS.
You are responsible for completing at least one hour of firing-range time during the six months immediately before you submit your renewal application.
Who This Renewal Class Is For
This class is for Michigan CPL holders who prefer an instructor-led review instead of reviewing the required material on their own.
Michigan treats an application as a renewal when the applicant previously received a qualifying Michigan CPL and the previous license has not been expired for more than one year.
However, if your CPL expired more than one year ago, Michigan no longer treats the application as a renewal.
Before registering, review the current Michigan State Police requirements for your situation.
