Our Eastpointe CPL class provides professional, beginner-friendly Michigan concealed carry training for local residents at our dedicated classroom in Macomb Township. The course combines classroom education, practical firearm-safety instruction and the live-fire training required for a Michigan Concealed Pistol License.
Students complete the classroom and range requirements in one day and receive the certificate needed to apply through their county clerk. Throughout the day, our USCCA-certified instructors provide patient guidance for both first-time shooters and experienced firearm owners. After classroom instruction, students travel to an offsite range approximately 30 minutes away, with directions provided during class.

Many Eastpointe students arrive with little or no previous handgun experience. You do not need to own a firearm because loaner firearms are available at no additional charge. In addition, our classroom provides a supportive setting where questions are encouraged.
Each concept is explained clearly before the class moves forward. If you need extra help, our instructors will take time to explain it. As a result, you can build a practical understanding of firearm safety, Michigan law and the responsibility of carrying concealed.

Your One-Day Eastpointe CPL Class
Michigan law requires applicants to complete an appropriate pistol-safety course before applying for a Concealed Pistol License. Our one-day Michigan CPL class includes five hours of classroom education followed by three hours of live-fire instruction. After the classroom portion, students travel to an offsite range approximately 30 minutes away.
Classroom Training
First, learn firearm safety, responsible carry, situational awareness, conflict avoidance and Michigan self-defense law.
Live-Fire Instruction
Next, complete the required range training with hands-on coaching from multiple instructors.
Certificate of Completion
Finally, after successfully completing both portions, receive the certificate needed to apply through your county clerk.
Class begins at 8:00 AM sharp. Therefore, please arrive 10–15 minutes early. The course normally concludes at approximately 5:00 PM, so plan for the full day.
Our training covers the subjects required under MCL 28.425j, including the required classroom subjects and live-fire instruction.

No firearms or ammunition are permitted inside the classroom. If you use your own firearm during live-fire training, it must remain unloaded and secured inside your vehicle until you arrive at the range. In addition, the ammunition used during class must be purchased onsite at the range.
Directions From Eastpointe to Your CPL Classroom
Prime Defense’s dedicated classroom is located at 51261 Milano Drive in Macomb Township. From Eastpointe, students travel north through Macomb County. Depending on traffic, navigation commonly uses I-94 and the 23 Mile Road area before continuing to Milano Drive.
Before leaving, use the directions button below to open a current route from your location. Because class begins promptly at 8:00 AM, check traffic and road construction along the way.
After classroom instruction, students travel to the offsite range approximately 30 minutes away. Although complete directions are provided during class, students must arrange their own transportation.
The classroom is inside the front office of L&M Tool Company. To help you find the correct entrance, signs are placed outside on class mornings.

How Eastpointe Residents Apply for a Michigan CPL
After completing the required training, Eastpointe residents apply through the Macomb County Clerk. The Clerk’s CPL office is located at 120 North Main Street in downtown Mount Clemens.

Firearms and Live-Fire Training
Do I need to own a firearm?
No. If you need one, Prime Defense provides a loaner firearm at no additional charge.
Can I use my own firearm?
Yes. However, it must remain unloaded and secured inside your vehicle during the classroom portion because firearms and ammunition are not permitted inside the classroom.
Is live-fire training included?
Yes. The live-fire instruction, range fee and target fee are included. However, students must purchase one box of ammunition onsite at the range.
Applications, Policies and Renewals
How old must I be to obtain a Michigan CPL?
Applicants must generally be at least 21 years old. Although students may complete the training course at age 18, they cannot apply until meeting Michigan’s age requirement.
Will I receive my CPL during class?
No. Instead, you receive a signed training certificate after successful completion. Then use it when applying through the county clerk where you reside.
Where do Eastpointe residents apply?
After completing training, Eastpointe residents apply through the Macomb County Clerk. The CPL office is located at 120 North Main Street in downtown Mount Clemens.
Do first-time Macomb County applicants need an appointment?
Macomb County currently directs first-time applicants to schedule an appointment through its online Quick Serve system. Because procedures can change, review the current county instructions before visiting.
What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Class registrations are nonrefundable. However, one reschedule is permitted with proper notice. If you request a change within 48 hours of class, a $40 fee applies. No-call/no-show registrations forfeit the tuition.
Do I need the full class if I am renewing my CPL?
Not always. If you are eligible to renew, you may not need the full eight-hour course. Instead, consider our live Michigan CPL renewal class through Zoom.
