Your One-Day CPL Class Near Shelby Township
Our Michigan CPL course includes five hours of classroom instruction and three hours of live-fire training. Classroom instruction takes place in Macomb Township. Students then travel to an offsite partner range approximately 30 minutes from the classroom.

Directions From Shelby Township to Your CPL Classroom
Your CPL class begins at 51261 Milano Drive, Macomb Township, MI 48042, inside the front office of L&M Tool Company. Milano Drive runs north from 23 Mile Road, between Hayes Road and Garfield Road. Our classroom is in neighboring Macomb Township, not Shelby Township.
Shelby Township covers a large area from the Utica and M-59 corridor north toward 26 Mile Road. Your easiest route depends on where you're starting. Use the directions button to confirm the best route for your address and check MDOT Mi Drive for traffic and construction before leaving.
From Southern Shelby Township via Hayes Road
If you're starting in southern Shelby Township, near the M-59 corridor or the area east of Utica, travel north toward 23 Mile Road. Hayes Road is one possible north-south approach, depending on your starting location.
At Hayes Road and 23 Mile Road, turn right (east) onto 23 Mile Road. Watch for Milano Drive on your left, before reaching Garfield Road. Turn left (north) onto Milano Drive and continue to 51261 Milano Drive.
From Northern Shelby Township via 23 Mile Road
If you're coming from northern Shelby Township near 25 Mile Road, 26 Mile Road or the Shelby–Washington Township border, make your way toward 23 Mile Road using a suitable north-south road.
Travel east on 23 Mile Road toward Macomb Township. After the Hayes Road intersection, watch for Milano Drive on your left, before reaching Garfield Road. Turn north onto Milano Drive and proceed to the classroom address. If your navigation route approaches from Garfield Road instead, turn west on 23 Mile Road and look for Milano Drive on your right.
Parking and Finding the Classroom
Park in the lot at 51261 Milano Drive. Look for the Prime Defense class signs outside and enter through the front office of L&M Tool Company. Our classroom is located inside that building, so do not look for a separate Prime Defense storefront.

Arrival Time and Offsite Range
Please arrive between 7:45 and 7:50 AM so you have time to park, locate the classroom and check in before our 8:00 AM sharp class start. Allow additional time if you're traveling through the M-59 corridor or during weekday traffic.
Following classroom instruction, students drive themselves to our offsite partner range approximately 30 minutes from the classroom. Range directions are provided during class, and each student is responsible for transportation.

Students may attend training at age 18. Michigan CPL applicants generally must be at least 21.

No. A loaner firearm is available at no additional charge.
Can I bring my own handgun?
Yes, if it meets class and range requirements. Keep it unloaded and securely stored until arriving at the range. Firearms are not permitted in the classroom.

No. Ammunition used during class must be purchased at the range.

Concealed Carry Classes and CPL Applications
Is a concealed carry class the same as a Michigan CPL class?
People often use these terms interchangeably. A first-time Michigan CPL applicant must complete pistol safety training meeting Michigan's legal requirements. Prime Defense's one-day Michigan CPL course is designed to meet those requirements.
