One-Day CPL Class for Port Huron Residents
Our one-day Michigan CPL course includes five hours of classroom education and three hours of live-fire range instruction. Both portions are completed on the same day.
Classroom Training

No firearms or ammunition are permitted inside the classroom. Students bringing their own firearms must follow all applicable transport requirements and keep them unloaded and secured until arriving at the range. Ammunition used during class must be purchased onsite at the range.
Traveling From Port Huron to Your CPL Class
Our classroom is located at 51261 Milano Drive, Macomb Township, MI 48042 . The classroom is inside the front office of L&M Tool Company.
From Port Huron and Fort Gratiot
Plan your drive southwest toward Macomb Township. Depending on your starting location and traffic, navigation may direct you toward the I-94 corridor or other regional roads before continuing to the classroom. Use your exact address for current directions.
From Marysville, Kimball Township and St. Clair
Allow sufficient time for the morning drive and arrival before the 8:00 AM start. Road construction and traffic may affect your route, so check travel conditions before leaving.
Arriving at the Classroom
Milano Drive runs north from 23 Mile Road between Hayes Road and Garfield Road. Continue to 51261 Milano Drive, park in the lot and follow class signs to the front office of L&M Tool Company.
Plan for the Offsite Range
The second part of your class is conducted at an offsite indoor shooting range, approximately 30 minutes from our classroom. Students drive themselves to the range, and directions are provided during class.
We recommend arriving between 7:45 and 7:50 AM. Class begins promptly at 8:00 AM.

How Port Huron Residents Apply for a Michigan CPL
After completing your course successfully, you'll receive a signed training certificate. Port Huron residents apply for their Michigan Concealed Pistol License through the St. Clair County Clerk.

How long does the CPL class take?

Is the range at the same location?

Michigan CPL Applications and Policies
What is the difference between a CCW class and a Michigan CPL class?
People often use the terms CCW class and concealed carry class when referring to Michigan pistol safety training. Michigan's official license is called a Concealed Pistol License, or CPL. Our one-day course is designed to satisfy the training requirements for eligible first-time Michigan CPL applicants.
How old must I be to apply for a Michigan CPL?
Applicants generally must be at least 21 years old. Students may complete training at 18, but must meet all Michigan eligibility requirements before applying.
Do I receive my CPL during class?
No. After successfully completing training, you receive a signed certificate. The CPL application process is handled separately through your county clerk.
Where do Port Huron residents apply?
Port Huron residents apply through the St. Clair County Clerk.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Class registrations are nonrefundable. One reschedule is permitted with proper advance notice. Requests within 48 hours of class are subject to a $40 per-student fee. No-call/no-show registrations forfeit tuition.
CPL Renewal Training
Do I need the full class to renew my Michigan CPL?
Generally, no. Eligible renewal applicants are subject to separate Michigan renewal requirements. A new eight-hour initial CPL course is not ordinarily required.
Does Prime Defense offer CPL renewal classes?
Yes. Our Michigan CPL renewal review is available through live instructor-led Zoom training. Required range practice remains a separate responsibility.
