Choosing a class outside Westland means planning a full day away from home. Therefore, it helps to know what your registration covers before making the trip. Classroom instruction, live-fire training, range and target fees, plus lunch are included.
You do not need to buy a handgun before attending. If needed, we provide a loaner firearm and loaner eye and ear protection at no extra charge. However, students purchase one box of ammunition at the range.
Our instructors welcome questions from both new and experienced students. Before moving to the range, you will review safety rules and carry responsibilities. Then our team provides guidance during live-fire instruction, so you have support throughout the day.

How Westland Residents Apply for a Michigan CPL
Westland residents apply through the Wayne County Clerk. Taking your class in Macomb Township does not change your county of application. After successful completion, use your signed training certificate when applying where you reside.
Complete Your CPL Class
First, successfully complete the classroom and live-fire portions to receive your signed training certificate.
Review the County Requirements
Next, review Wayne County’s CPL page for current forms, documents and filing instructions.
Arrange Your Application Appointment
Then complete the application as directed and use the county’s appointment link. Confirm your appointment location before traveling.
Apply and Complete Fingerprinting
Bring the required documents and payment. After filing, follow the Clerk’s instructions to complete fingerprinting.
Wait for Processing
Finally, allow time for application processing and background checks. A training certificate alone does not authorize concealed carry.
Procedures and fees can change. Therefore, review the Wayne County Clerk CPL information before applying. Applicants must also meet the Michigan CPL eligibility requirements; completing training does not automatically grant a license.
